Why and how to use Pinterest during the Corona crisis

By now we know that online usage increased dramatically during the Corona crisis. We see that most companies are active on Instagram, Linkedin and Facebook above average during this period. Yet it appears that the platform Pinterest is still not top of mind as a communication channel. In our opinion, this platform actually offers many opportunities. We delve deeper into it in this article.

We notice that Pinterest is not quite at the top of the list of “to be on platforms” yet, not only with our clients, who sometimes react somewhat surprised when we emphasize to them that Pinterest can offer great opportunities in terms of profiling, but also in our environment. When we did a small test within our network to name 3 social media channels, only 8 out of 20 people mentioned Pinterest. Most common were Instagram, Facebook. The rest were an alternation between LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest. Still, we will continue to recommend using Pinterest from your business point of view for the following reasons.

Why should you use Pinterest?

First of all, we want to emphasize that Pinterest is a strong platform for your business. It is still one of the largest rising social media platforms in the Netherlands. The power of Pinterest is that people actively search for tips, ideas and inspiration in the form of images. In the long run, Pinterest contributes to a lot of website traffic (organically), since links can be made from the ‘pin’ to your website.

For example, if you own a home improvement store, we strongly recommend that you share visuals of your home styling style on Pinterest, so that anyone searching for home inspiration can see your furniture shining in a way that might suit their decor. You can then link them through to your website, where the chair can be purchased (for example).

Another example is if you, as a barber store, share photos of clients you’ve given a great look to, so you can inspire others in turn and thus be more findable, by linking to your website as described above. As a dentist, you can even share facts about dental care in the form of an infographic.

The possibilities on Pinterest are endless, as long as you know how to translate your story in a visual way. If you need help with this, we are of course here for you, feel free to contact us via the contact form.
